Why did you choose EY

Joining exciting and challenging Tax tech projects leveraging AI, data analytics, robotics, and other technologies and work with Tax industry experts in delivering cutting edge solutions are the most compelling reasons I joined the firm. It is rewarding to create innovative solutions in this field. The combination of being a pioneer in this field and the opportunity to work with tax industry and technology experts in Japan and around the globe are my driving forces.

What's your impression of EY before and after you joined

Good work-life balance, supportive peers and leadership, international environment, lots of learning, exciting projects are just a few the good things you hear about EY. It's hard not to fall in love with the company as it really cares for its employees. Training and support for continuous education are highlighted as huge benefits and surely EY is holding up to that. Most importantly, the work-life balance strategies pushed by EY are helpful to my productivity and job satisfaction. There is a healthy level of work collaboration among the managers, staff and different departments. EY is definitely good at harnessing the strengths of a multi-cultural workplace.

Tell us about your job

I am part of the Tax Technology and Transformation (TTT) sub-service line and I'm in charge of managing the Solutions Development team. I liaise with industry experts in the Tax and Tech groups within and outside Japan. My work heavily involves architecting solutions and leading delivery projects.

What makes you feel rewarded as a tax consultant

I feel rewarded when I see our tech solutions making a difference to client initiatives. Workforce and business productivity are real world problems. Major shifts in consumer markets, rapid transformations of trade and tax policies compound the already time consuming work in tax preparation, accounting, and compliance checks. We are building solutions to reduce error, decrease workload & simplify processes. To be able to make an impact in this realm makes me feel that I am positively helping the company and the larger community.

What is your career goal

It would definitely be a great honor to be part of the EY leadership team one day. However, a powerful personal motivator and career goal for me is to develop solutions that can be applied globally and help cultivate a fun but very strong development group in Tokyo and also the rest of APAC.

Your message to those who are interested in EY

My advice for younger hopefuls who want to join EY is to embrace emerging technologies and keep on learning. Always think outside of the box, be open to new experiences and knowledge. Do your due diligence and make sure that the values of EY align with yours.
